About
Peri Segel is a Chinese-American and Jewish comedy writer based in Los Angeles.
As her last name implies, she will steal your fries on the beach.Peri is currently developing an unannounced live-action adult comedy series with Todd Komarnicki's production company, GUY WALKS INTO A BAR (Elf, Sully) with writing partner and comedian Rebecca Kohler (Schitt's Creek, Kim's Convenience). She is also developing an original animated comedy series with DREAMWORKS, and an animated comedy series with Stephen Davis's company, STILL ENTERTAINMENT.Previously, Peri was a writer on two seasons of Disney’s Emmy and Annie-nominated series THE GHOST AND MOLLY MCGEE and three seasons of Netflix’s GO DOG GO. She's also done freelance and development work for Netflix, the BBC, DreamWorks, Disney, Nickelodeon, and Baobab Studios. Peri was also selected for the Disney TVA Apprentice Writer Program in 2019 and the Rideback Rise Circle Cohort for 2024/2025.When Peri is not writing, she loves to run, solve escape rooms, watch Survivor, and play board and card games. She even co-created a card game about evil babies who commit heists, which was inevitably titled HEIST, HEIST BABY.Originally from Massachusetts, Peri studied Film and TV at NYU Tisch, and held a minor in Business from NYU Stern. She is currently represented at The Gotham Group.
Writing
Peri loves writing stories that make people laugh and center around subjects such as coming-of-age at any age, the awkwardness of growing up, biracial identity, unconventional or multigenerational families, divorce and co-parenting, and female friendships – especially female sports teammates.Her favorite genres are comedy, dramedy, dark comedy, romantic comedy, mystery, sci-fi, and whatever genre you call anything Nathan Fielder has ever done.She loves projects that are optimistic, thoughtful, inspiring, and funny.
