About

Peri Segel is a Chinese-American and Jewish comedy writer from Massachusetts. As her last name implies, she will steal your fries on the beach.Peri is currently developing an unannounced live-action adult comedy series with Todd Komarnicki's production company, GUY WALKS INTO A BAR (Elf, Sully) with writing partner and comedian Rebecca Kohler (Schitt's Creek, Kim's Convenience). She is also developing an original animated comedy series with DREAMWORKS, and an animated comedy series with Stephen Davis's company, STILL PICTURES. In addition, Peri was selected as a 2025 Circle Member for Dan Lin’s Rideback Rise Fellowship.Previously, Peri was a writer on two seasons of Disney’s Emmy and Annie-nominated series THE GHOST AND MOLLY MCGEE and three seasons of Netflix’s GO DOG GO. She's also done freelance and development work for Netflix, the BBC, DreamWorks, Disney, Nickelodeon, and Baobab Studios.Peri was selected for the Disney Apprentice Writing Program (2019) and Unlock Her Potential Program (2020). She was a Finalist of the Sony Pictures Animation LENS Program (2023). In 2018, Peri created a romantic comedy web series set in NYC, Strings Attached, which won Best Comedy at the Los Angeles Film Awards and Best Web Series at Top Shorts Film Festival. She got her start as an intern on CBS's BLUE BLOODS and studied Film and TV at NYU with a minor in the Business of Entertainment.When Peri is not writing, she loves to run, do escape rooms, watch Survivor, and play board and card games. She even co-created a card game about evil babies who commit heists, which was inevitably titled HEIST, HEIST BABY.Peri is currently represented at The Gotham Group.


Writing

Peri's current samples include a sports comedy about a disgraced track and field coach, a dramedy about adult sisters of divorce, a family comedy about blended families, and a dark comedy about a dad of demons.Peri loves writing stories that make people laugh and center around subjects such as coming-of-age at any age, the awkwardness of growing up, biracial identity, unconventional or multigenerational families, divorce and co-parenting, and female friendships – especially female sports teammates.Her favorite genres are comedy, dark comedy, dramedy, romantic comedy, mystery, sci-fi, and whatever genre you call anything Nathan Fielder has ever done.She loves projects that are optimistic, thoughtful, inspiring, and funny.
